Wondering what to have for lunch in the city? Pop into Ichi-ban Boshi Express on the Lower Ground level of The Galeries.

If you haven’t visited for a little while, you might notice something different. Our menu displays and logo sign have had a fresh look, with bright digital menus and an illuminated star to welcome you in. Whether you’re a regular or stopping by for the first time, there’s plenty to catch your eye.

And there’s plenty to enjoy on the menu, too. From ramen and udon to rice bowls and Japanese curry, Express makes it easy to find something that suits your appetite.

A fresh look for a familiar lunch spot

Take a look at the before-and-after photos and you’ll spot the changes. The lightboxes displaying our food photos have made way for two digital menu screens, while our familiar star now shines as a three-dimensional illuminated sign.

Look for the glowing star

Our new sign features a red star and glowing white lettering reading “Japanese Noodle Shop Ichi-ban Boshi”. The raised letters give the 3D LED sign a distinctive look, whether you’re standing out the front or walking past.

Next time you’re looking for lunch or taking a break from shopping, look up for the star. We’d love to welcome you in for a bite.

More than ramen, with plenty to choose from

There’s a meal for all sorts of appetites at Ichi-ban Boshi Express.

For ramen, try our soy sauce-based Tokyo Ramen, or go for miso or shio (salt-based) ramen. If you’re after a warming bowl of thick Japanese noodles, udon is another lovely option.

Prefer rice? There’s Wagyu Sukiyaki Don, a rice bowl topped with sukiyaki-style Wagyu beef, or Karaage Don with Japanese fried chicken. For something crispy and comforting, try chicken katsu curry: crumbed chicken cutlet served with Japanese curry. Or bring noodles and curry together with a bowl of curry udon.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch on your own or meeting friends who all fancy something different, there’s plenty to choose from.

You can use your Ichi-ban Boshi digital VIP card through the Stamp Me app at all three shops: Sydney Express, Sydney City and Bondi Junction.

Visit Express on a workday, or stop by City or Bondi Junction when you’re out and about. You can collect stamps while enjoying your Ichi-ban Boshi favourites across all three locations.

It’s free to join. Earn one stamp for every AU$10 spent and receive AU$5 off when you collect 10 stamps. New members also receive three bonus stamps when they sign up.
